NEWARK, NJ — Today, Express Newark announced the official launch of its new website, expressnewark.org.

Occupying 50,000 square feet of the renovated, historic Hahne & Company building in the heart of Newark’s downtown, Express Newark is described as a “Third Space” collaboratory. Together, Newark artists, community residents, arts organizations, Rutgers University–Newark faculty, staff, and students work in tandem to incubate talent, cultivate engaged scholarship, and promote social practice. As an arts incubator, Express Newark fosters a creative space to convene, experiment, and innovate in partnership with Rutgers University–Newark. With a focus on arts, entrepreneurship, and social justice, Express Newark houses a variety of university and community partners. Additionally, Express Newark offers many opportunities for collaboration: college courses, internships, workshops to the public, and artist residencies. Express Newark provides state-of-the-art interdisciplinary public learning spaces where artists, community residents, and community partners create visual, spoken word, and electronic arts; foster democratic dialogue; and effect positive transformation.

The design and user experience of expressnewark.org mirror the ecosystem of Express Newark – one of inclusiveness, democratic dialogue, and boundary-crossing networks, consisting of contributors who span diverse disciplines and collaborate and engage in public work and creative practice.
