About the Rutgers-Newark Advisory Board
The Rutgers University–Newark Advisory Board serves as a high-level strategic advisory body to the Chancellor, providing independent guidance on institutional priorities, fiscal stewardship, and long-term campus development. Established pursuant to the state legislation integrating Rutgers and UMDNJ (effective July 1, 2013) and referenced in N.J.A.C. 18A:65-14.1 and 14.2, the Board strengthens the university’s ability to advance its mission as an anchor institution, a driver of social mobility, and a leading public research university in New Jersey. Through the perspectives of civic, professional, and regional leaders, the Board offers informed counsel that supports responsible growth, community impact, and academic excellence. Members serve staggered two-year terms without compensation and convene at least once per semester, including at least one meeting open to the Rutgers–Newark community, reinforcing transparency and public accountability.
