When Rutgers University–Newark celebrates Homecoming on Oct. 24, alumni, students, families and friends will gather for a day of fun and shared memories. But the event also celebrates an important milestone: Rutgers-Newark’s 80th anniversary

On the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which destroyed the iconic Twin Towers, the Rutgers University–Newark community gathered to remember that day and honor the nearly 3,000 lives that were lost.

Rutgers University–Newark celebrated its 80th anniversary at an event that honored its role as a gateway to opportunity and  bedrock of the city and state’s economic and cultural life.

April 30 is International Jazz Day, but Rutgers–Newark will be celebrating more than music. It will mark a major campus milestone: the 80th anniversary of the date that Rutgers University merged with the University of Newark to become the institution it is today.

Hosted on April 9 by the Rutgers Equity Alliance for Community Health (REACH), this University-wide symposium features keynote speaker, Matthew Desmond, the Pulitzer-prize-winning author of Poverty, by America.

Rutgers-Newark–where debate team members have ranked nationally and internationally for more than a decade–hosted a national tournament where participants argued the merits of a U.S. clean energy policy.
