Exchange NJIT Registration

Out of an abundance of caution due to COVID-19, the Registrar's staff will be using a hybrid work model, offering services both virtually and in-person during scheduled office hours.  For questions or concerns, please contact us by completing the contact form.

Exchange Registration for NJIT courses will begin each semester on the first day of registration for Fall and Spring only.  Please refer to the Registration Schedule on the day you are eligible to register based on your degree credits.

ALERT: Please see NJIT’s Modes of Instructional Delivery Plans that are indicated in the Comments on the NJIT Class Schedule.

  • RU-N students may begin registering for some NJIT Biology, History or Theater courses on WEBREG according to their degree credits earned for the current semester (they do not include credits for courses currently in progress), see registration schedule for dates and times here.

Please review the NJIT courses before attempting to register by visiting the NJIT Schedule of Classes.
Note: All approved NJIT courses are listed in the Rutgers Schedule of Classes as school 28 (undergraduate) and school 48 (graduate) and it’s important to always read the Course Notes for more information.

Courses not listed as school 28 (undergraduate) or 48 (graduate) require Academic Advisor approval. Once approved, students must send their NJIT exchange registration form to the MyRUN Supportal. The Office of the Registrar, Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) will register the course under a generic exchange course number: 21:376:055:01 (for an undergraduate course) or 26:001:015:01 (for graduate course).

    View NJIT Calendars here.

Rutgers students taking NJIT courses must adhere to Rutgers Add/Drop Period.

  • Students seeking to register for NJIT courses offered under CS, IS or IT and require override of Pre-Requisites or Closed Course (Waitlist) restrictions, must request permission via the NJIT Course Permits system at: http://ccs.njit.edu/permits/.  Please refer to our NJIT exchange registration instruction guide to register for CS, IS, or IT courses at NJIT.

  • Registration for NJIT Biology (28:120) or Theatre (28:088) courses must be done online via the Rutgers WEBREG system.

  • Rutgers history majors and minors can easily enroll in the history courses offered at NJIT (space permitting). Simply fill out the NJIT Exchange Registration form and return it electronically to history@newark.rutgers.edu.

Visit NJIT Schedule of Classes to access NJIT's course schedule.

  • Rutgers University students cross-registered at NJIT are required to have an NJIT Identification number and activate a UCID, which is similar to the Rutgers' RUID# and NETID).  New and existing students must claim the UCID by requesting a one-time UCID claim number.

If you have yet to receive your 8-digit student NJIT ID#, you must complete the myRUN contact form by logging in with your Rutgers NetID at the myRUN Supportal and do the following:

    • Type in the subject line “Requesting NJIT#”
    • Select category “Adding/Dropping Courses”

NOTE: Failure to login with your NetID will not authenticate you as a Rutgers student and will delay your request.

The Registrar’s Office will review your request and respond with your NJIT ID#.

After receiving your NJIT ID#, create a UCID at NJIT.
