Dear Rutgers University–Newark community members,
Following the weather update issued earlier today, Friday, January 23, 2026, at 6:48 p.m. by the University’s Interim Chief Operating Officer, the university remains open at this time. We will continue to closely monitor winter weather conditions and coordinate with state and local authorities.
Below are operational updates for Rutgers–Newark for Sunday, January 25, 2026, and Monday, January 26, 2026.
Courses
- Courses normally delivered face-to-face will pivot to remote instruction.
- Faculty should communicate with students via university email and/or the learning management system regarding alternate arrangements.
Campus Events
- All on-campus events scheduled for Sunday and Monday are canceled.
Campus Buildings and Dining
- Dana Library will operate remotely on Sunday and Monday. Instruction and research support will be fully remote, and online library resources will remain available.
- Stonsby Commons Dining Hall will maintain normal operating hours. All other dining locations will be closed.
- Pantry+ emergency food packs are available 24/7 at the Rutgers University Police Department (200 University Avenue). Additional locations are available on the Pantry+ map; please check availability before visiting.
- The Golden Dome Athletic Center will be closed on Sunday. Updates regarding Monday will be shared at a later time.
- The Paul Robeson Campus Center, including retail spaces such as Starbucks, will be closed.
Student Service Offices
- The Student Health Center and all Health and Wellness offices will operate remotely.
- One-Stop Student Services offices (Call Center, Financial Aid, Student Accounting, Payment Center, and Registrar) will operate remotely during regular business hours.
- All other student services offices (Admissions, Advising, Student Life, Veterans Affairs, International Scholars and Services, Residence Life, etc.) will operate remotely during regular business hours.
- All administrative offices (including Procurement, Research and Collaboration, Communications, IT, and Human Resources) will operate remotely during regular business hours.
IT Support
- The IT Help Desk will be available virtually and by phone.
- The Academic Technology Help Desk will be available online and by phone.
Parking
- If your vehicle is parked on the street, please relocate it to a university parking deck to support snow removal operations and avoid being plowed in. Vehicles should not remain in surface lots.
- Parking will be available from Saturday, January 24 at 9:00 a.m. through Monday, January 26 at 9:00 p.m. in Parking Decks 1–4.
- For safety, the top level of each deck is closed. Do not cross chains or barriers.
