Dear Rutgers University – Newark community members,

If you have passed through the center of our campus recently, you may have noticed that renovation of Conklin Hall has begun in earnest. Announced in May 2023, an expansion and upgrade to the building will create a one-stop student service center and increase space for commuters in a design that is responsive to student feedback gathered over recent years.

  • Contractors are now on site.
  • Demolition has begun to prepare the first floor for remodeling.
  • In the coming weeks, portions of the sidewalk bordering the building on University Avenue and Bleeker Street will be closed for pedestrian safety.
  • Also in the coming weeks, the location of the existing bus stop will be shifted temporarily.

Further updates will be provided as they become available.

Meanwhile, if you would like further information about the project, please review the general Frequently Asked Questions that have been posted online and/or the questions related to health and safety on site.
