Members of the Media Are Welcome To Bicycle To the Park

WHO:  The Commuter Transit and Parking Services (CTPS) will be hosting Rutgers University-Newark’s annual Cherry Blossom Bike Ride to Branch Brook Park as part of our green commuting campaign called GREEN PEDAL ADVENTURE (GPA).    There are 20 bikes available to students, with lunch and various giveaways provided to all participants.

WHAT:  Students will be escorted to the Cherry Blossom Park at Branch Brook Park.  

WHEN: Monday, April 7, 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., and Wednesday, April 9, at 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

WHERE:  Participants will meet at the Rutgers-Newark Bicycle Park, located at 154 University Ave., Newark, on the Rutgers University – Newark campus.

BACKGROUND:  The event aims to promote “biking” as an active means of commuting and also as a healthy recreational activity. It is scheduled during the free period of Rutgers University-Newark students. The Cherry Blossom Bike Ride is designed to enlighten RU-N students about the recreational possibilities that the City of Newark has to offer.

ATTENDEES: Current Rutgers students. Also invited: Representatives from Brick City Bike Collective, Newark Bike Exchange, Black Sox Bike Collective and the Rutgers Police and Public Safety department.

The CTPS Bike Program has established facilities such as loaner bikes, bike lockers and the bike park for the Rutgers University-Newark community to avail and enjoy the benefits of biking.
