Rutgers University In Newark To ‘Paint The City Scarlet’ For Homecoming, Tomorrow Through Sept. 26
(NEWARK, ) – Members of the community are invited to join students, faculty, staff and alumni of Rutgers University, Newark, to “paint the city scarlet” this week during the campus’s fifth annual homecoming, a four-day public celebration of community spirit and school pride from Wed., Sept. 23 through Sat., 26.
Festivities, which are open to the public, include a Family Fall Fest outdoor fair, Rutgers Spirit Day, the “Mr. and Ms. Rutgers” pageant and talent show, a basketball game featuring Hall of Fame alumni athletes, a soccer game, a book-signing by the author of How Newark Became Newark: The Rise, Fall and Rebirth of an American City, and tours of the campus and city. Homecoming 2009 at Rutgers in Newark offers a variety of memory-making opportunities and celebrations for the entire community. All events are open to the public, and most are free, unless otherwise indicated.

- Sept. 24, 6:30 p.m., Alumni Social at MiSaVi, 62 Van Buren St., Newark

- Sept. 26, 11 a.m. – Family Fall Fest, Bradley Hall Parking Lot, corner of Warren Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Fee for optional BBQ, but no charge for admission to Family Fall Fest games and activities.
- Sept. 26, 2:30 p.m. – Alumni Basketball Game, Golden Dome Athletic Center, 42 Warren St.
- Sept. 26, 4 p.m., Homecoming Social, McGovern’s Pub, 58 New St.
