Rutgers University-Newark Chancellor Nancy Cantor has been named the 14th president of Hunter College, the City University of New York announced. She will start her new position on August 12.
 
The CUNY Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Cantor, who has served as chancellor of RU-N for a decade. In the summer of 2023, it was announced that she will conclude her leadership at Rutgers-Newark on June 30.
 
With an enrollment of 23,000 students, Hunter is the largest of the 25 colleges in the CUNY system, which is the nation’s largest urban public university, serving more than 225,000 degree-seeking students of all ages and awarding 50,000 degrees each year.
