Calling All Alumni Classes Of Rutgers University, Newark: Reunite, Relive, Reminisce At April 17 Reunion

The day’s festivities begin with an 11 a.m. brunch celebrating alumni who graduated at least 50 years ago, and ends with a dinner of Portuguese cuisine topped off by dancing to a jazz band. Events also include a bus tour of “Dear Old Newark” guided by Rutgers alumnus and Distinguished Service Professor of History Clement Price, campus tours, a spring carnival, and informative workshops. Reunion Brunch with the Golden Raider Society, 11 a.m. – 1 , Paul Robeson Campus Center, University Club, 350 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. $20 per person. Alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago will be inducted into the first class of the Golden Raider Society. Steven J. Diner, Chancellor of Rutgers University in Newark, will open the brunch with remarks.
Bus Tour: Dear Old Newark, 1 – 2:30 p.m., meet at Paul Robeson Campus Center, 350 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. FREE – REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Dr. Clement A. Price, Rutgers Graduate School-New Brunswick ’75, Rutgers Distinguished Service Professor of History, will lead a bus tour of Newark, the nation’s third oldest city, that focuses on the intersection of the city’s public, private, sacred, and secular spaces, including campus buildings, Military Park, the Newark Museum and Hopewell Baptist Church.
Dean’s Seminar on Emergency Preparedness: Are We There Yet? 1:30 – 2:45 p.m., Rutgers Center for Law & Justice, Baker Trial Courtroom, 123 Washington St. FREE – REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Join Rutgers School of Law-Newark Dean John J. Farmer Jr. as he shares insights gained as senior counsel to the 9/11 Commission. Hear how Dean Farmer believes we should improve our national security and his recommendations on how individuals can be better prepared in the event of a national catastrophe.

Whether or not pandemonium finds its way into your personal or professional life, don’t miss this fun and interactive workshop. Led by Elena Serra, University College-Newark ’93, participants will walk away with strategies to effectively organize themselves while managing chaos.

Celebrate at one of the most popular Ironbound establishments, Rio Rodizio (formerly known as Seabra’s) with a full buffet of Portuguese dishes. Dancing and musical entertainment provided by Mosaic, the Rutgers–Newark Jazz Band, led by director Robert P. Smith, Graduate School-Newark, ’09.
