ADVISORY: President Obama to Travel to Newark, NJ and New York, NY

WASHINGTON, DC – As part of his commitment to criminal justice reform, on Monday, November 2, President Obama will travel to the Newark, New Jersey area to highlight the re-entry process of formerly-incarcerated individuals who are working to put their lives back on track and earn their second chance. He will be joined by Senator Booker and Mayor Baraka.  While in Newark, the President will visit a residential facility, Integrity House, and later convene a roundtable discussion at Rutgers University – Newark, Center for Law & Justice, where he will also deliver an address. Afterward, the President will travel to New York, New York for a DNC event and a DCCC event.

The arrival and departure of Air Force One in Newark, NJ are open to pre-credentialed media, but closed to the public. There will be travel pool coverage of the President’s visit to Integrity House. The President’s address at Rutgers University – Newark, Center for Law & Justice is pooled for TV and open to limited pre-credentialed still photographers and correspondents. The statement will also be streamed live at whitehouse.gov/live. There will be travel pool coverage of the President’s remarks at the DNC event, and print pool coverage of the President’s remarks at the DSCC event.
