As Women's History Month draws to a close, check out Rutgers-Newark's social media pages, which have been featuring RU-N sororities. This week, the sisters of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority have been in the spotlight.

The sorority began in 1981, when its founders saw the need for a sorority that crossed the boundaries of race, religion, culture and class. While other Greek organizations continue to grow more diverse, Mu Sigma Upsilon's origins are based on diversity, and members embrace multicultural ideals and interests.

"Ultimately, multiculturalism is the belief that there is inherent value in discovering, understanding and appreciating all the ways in which people are different from each other,'' according to the sisters. "Our organization prides itself on being a place where diverse culture, viewpoints and life experiences coexist out of a shared aspect and common purpose to unite all women.''
