March 12 Auction Will Raise Money for Rutgers-Newark Law Students With Summer Public Interest Jobs

Newark, NJ – On Thursday, March 12, the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) at Rutgers School of Law–Newark will hold its annual auction to raise funds for students who accept unpaid summer jobs with domestic and international public interest and public sector organizations. Faculty, staff, students, alums, and friends of the law school have contributed more than 75 items for the silent and live auctions.

Among the items are dinner with actor, director, writer Zach Braff of TV’s Scrubs and the movie Garden State, an aerial tour of New York City, a week at a summer home in California, tickets to Broadway shows, and tickets to major sporting events including the U.S. Open.

The annual auction is the main fundraising activity of PILF, a student-run organization. Money from the 2008 auction enabled students to work last summer at such organizations as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Iran Human Rights Documentation Center, Volunteer Lawyers for Justice, the Documentation Center of Cambodia, New York Legal Aid, King County District Attorney, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
