Hope and Joy in Urban Education Lecture Series
Please join us for the Department of Urban Education's annual Hope and Joy in Urban Education Lecture Series on March 12, 2026, at 6pm in Express Newark (51 Halsey Street, second floor, room 213). The event is free and open to the public. Dinner will be served.
We are proud to welcome Dr. Marc Lamont Hill as this semester's keynote speaker. Dr. Lamont Hill is a leading public intellectual, award-winning journalist, and Presidential Professor at the CUNY Graduate Center. He hosts programs for BET News, The Grio, Al Jazeera, and the Coffee & Books podcast, and has received honors from the National Association of Black Journalists, GLAAD, and the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. A lifelong social justice activist from Philadelphia, he is the founder of The People’s Education Center and owner of Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee & Books. Named one of Ebony’s 100 most influential Black leaders, Dr. Hill is the author of eight books and holds a Ph.D. with distinction from the University of Pennsylvania.
