Alternative Summer '26 Break Puerto Rico

The Alternative Summer Break to Puerto Rico at Rutgers University–Newark is a service-learning experience that gives students the opportunity to travel, engage with local communities, and learn about important social issues while giving back. During this immersive program, students work alongside community partners on service projects focused on areas such as community development, environmental sustainability, and disaster recovery while also exploring Puerto Rico’s history and culture. Through hands-on service, reflection, and cultural exchange, students develop leadership skills, build meaningful connections, and gain a deeper understanding of community engagement and social responsibility.
