Caring for the whole student
Pursuing a degree can be stressful and staying healthy in mind and body will keep you on track. The Rutgers University-Newark Health Promotion Division is here to take care of the whole you, offering health education, wellness coaching, and advocacy in a supportive environment. We support your mental health and are here for you when you get sick, too. That is why Rutgers-Newark:

Comprehensive medical care
For primary care, Student Health Services is at the ready. You can get a thorough physical, update your vaccinations, get lab and screening tests, or address a current concern or condition. Your care is covered by your own insurance or a student insurance plan. Should you suffer an accident or illness while enrolled, you are assured the very best of care.
Emotional and mental health
Whether you need support for a diagnosed mental health issue, or just need help adjusting to college life, making decisions, or working out problems in relationships, you’ll find counselling, psychological and psychiatric services in a safe place that help you find healthy ways to cope.
Dealing with addictions
Explore your relationship with alcohol, drugs, and behavioral addictions or get help dealing with a friend or family member who is struggling. Services are free, confidential, and available to all enrolled students.
Nourishment you can depend on
Pantry+ @ RU-N that is a completely free resource for groceries, including dairy, grains, fresh produce, and more for those having difficulty affording or accessing enough nutritious food. We also make emergency packs available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and offer Swipe Out Hunger emergency free meals at participating campus dining facilities. Pantry+ farmers markets and New Jersey’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are other ways we make sure you don’t go hungry.
Your safety matters
The Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance is your confidential resource you can turn to if you have been affected by interpersonal violence. Your safety is our priority. You will find ready connections to resources, trauma-informed advocacy and the services you need to be safe and feel safe, along with tools to grow and heal.
