Traffic Advisory for January 20 – Plan for Extra Travel Time or Use Public Transportation

Rutgers–Newark Community,

The City of Newark has issued a traffic advisory for Tuesday, January 20, in connection with the inauguration of Governor-Elect Sherrill, which will take place at the Prudential Center.

Earlier this week, we shared a campuswide communication with the advisory details; that information is attached again for your reference.

With the start of a new semester and the inauguration occurring on the same day, we anticipate significantly heavier-than-usual traffic in and around the downtown area. We strongly encourage everyone to consider using public transportation whenever possible. If you must drive into the city, please plan accordingly and allow substantial extra travel time.
