Taking the Mystery out of Library Databases:
We are learning more every day about the developments and increasingly widespread applications of AI technologies. By the time students reach college, their information-seeking routines often involve conversational AI tools such as Syrie and Alexa, in addition to the use of Google and its ranked search results. But how will these habits serve them in college? What relationship do the AI tools that students are so familiar with have to the tools and techniques necessary for library research? Are there library AI equivalents to Syrie and Alexa? Are library search platforms like Google? In this hands-on session, participants will learn about the answers to all these questions and gain experience with the library-specific subscription resources that they will need during their time at Rutgers. Bring your questions! Post-session follow-up will be welcome and encouraged. Instructor: Naomi Gold (Reference and Instruction Librarian)
