AI-generated deepfakes. Viral misinformation. Manipulated images. Learn to tell truth from deception in this interactive workshop. Test your skills with real-world examples, discover professional fact-checking techniques, and build your personal toolkit for verifying content before you share.

Presented by Rutgers University Libraries, this session features a discussion with a New York Times reporter covering AI and misinformation and a visiting scholar from the Rutgers AI Ethics Lab. Together, they, along with Rutgers academic librarians, will combine expert insights with hands-on practice to strengthen your digital literacy and protect your civic engagement.

You'll learn verification techniques, deepfake-detection strategies, how to trace information sources, and critical evaluation frameworks.

You'll leave with: a resource toolkit and the confidence to navigate our complex information landscape.

Location: The Dana Room (4th Floor) of the Dana Library at Rutgers University - Newark.

Note: This is an in-person workshop with a virtual option via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent out to registrants the day before the event.
