Taking the Mystery out of Library Databases:
This in-person workshop provides a behind-the-scenes look at the specialized archives and research collections on the fourth floor of Dana Library, home of the Rutgers-University Newark Archives and the Institute of Jazz Studies. Attendees will get a tour of the stacks and learn about the wide variety of unique research collections and archives available on campus. Angela Lawrence, Rutgers-Newark Archivist, and Elizabeth Surles, Archivist at the Institute of Jazz Studies, will lead the workshop and offer personalized help for students who want to see how collections on campus might support their research: term paper, thesis, and/or dissertation. Geared especially towards students in Africana Studies, American Studies, Art History, English, Global Urban Studies, History, Jazz History and Research, Journalism and Media Studies, Marketing, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology and Anthropology, and Women's and Gender Studies. Open to graduate and undergraduate students.
