Safety and Security

Rutgers-Newark is committed to insuring safety and security on campus, while maintaining a welcoming and comfortable environment for all students, faculty, staff and visitors.
We view safety and security as a collaboration between public safety professionals and all members of the campus community. All of us should be knowledgeable, not just about what to do in the event of an emergency, but about all matters of campus safety.
Philip Yeagle, interim Chancellor Police Chief Michael Lattimore
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND NOTIFICATION
Rutgers-Newark works with neighboring police departments and many public agencies to prepare the campus for any kind of emergency or disaster. Safety and emergency planning is under constant review by public safety personnel and university leaders.
