According to Thomas Wisniewski, managing partner of Newark Venture Partners (NVP), “The essence of any really good business program is its ability to bridge between the academics and the real world.” Founded in 2015 by Don Katz, Audible Inc. founder and chief executive officer, NVP is a venture capital fund that helps Newark’s pioneering entrepreneurs build distinctive technology start-up companies. NVP links Katz’s forward-thinking business style with his fascination for urban renewal, to bring together universities, larger companies, and other institutions to create an environment in Newark that promotes global commerce.

Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) is an NVP partner and has provided the partnership a 25,000-square-foot accelerator workspace at Rutgers Business School as a home for innovative tech start-up companies. RU-N also has worked with NVP to create an internship program that offers work experience for RU-N students with the start-ups while providing support services from Rutgers Business School graduate students and faculty.

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, NVP hosted a Demo Day at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Nine start-up tech companies introduced their businesses to potential investors. RU-N students attended the event to not only learn more about the featured companies, but also network and learn more about available internships.
