Description: This exhibit, based on interviews from the Queer Newark Oral History Project (, tells stories of activism, of creative expression in balls, and finding community in traditional churches, new places of worship, bars, nightclubs, and on street corners.


Hear Our Voices

Description:  Hosted by La Casa de Don Pedro, this Pride event is designed to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with fabulous music and live performances. Resource tabling and free HIV testing available on site. Light refreshments will be available.

Newark Gay Pride March     

Date:  Sunday, July 14, 2019  

Location:  March begins at Lincoln Park and ends at Washington Park (Newark, NJ)

Time:  Start time 12:00 PM (noon)

Description:  If you would like to march with RUN faculty, staff, students and alumni to show your pride and support for the LGBTQ community, RSVP at  March participants will line up at 11:00 AM at Lincoln Park (the intersection of Broad Street and Clinton Avenue).  


Strut Fashion Show

Location:  Washington Park (Newark, NJ)

Time:  3:00 PM-4:00 PM (during Newark Gay Pride)

Description:  Join the LGBTQ and Intercultural Resource Center, in collaboration with Research with a Heart NJ, for fierce fashion performances and music, as we push the boundaries of gender expression and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
