Rutgers University – Newark Announces Extension of Test-Optional Admissions to Fall 2021
Rutgers University – Newark has announced that it is extending its Fall 2020 test-optional approach in admissions to applicants for Fall 2021, as well. This extension of the current admissions policy, making it optional for undergraduate applicants to submit standardized test scores from the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the analogous college admissions exam from American College Testing (ACT), has been adopted in recognition of changes to test scheduling and conditions as a result of constraints imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Those changes continue to present difficulties to many students in New Jersey, nationally, and internationally. Rutgers-Newark Chancellor Nancy Cantor explained, “This approach, adopted in mid-March 2020, has been fully successful and is consistent with our goal of taking a holistic approach to recognizing the talents of our applicants as we work to provide an avenue of social mobility for all prospective students.”
