Citizenship Rutgers Offers Free Assistance For Permanent Residents To Apply For U.S. Citizenship

Citizenship Rutgers comes to Rutgers University, Newark, on Saturday, Oct. 1, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., to assist help green card-holders who are seeking citizenship. These green card-holders can receive free citizenship application assistance at the Paul Robeson Campus Center, Essex Room, second floor, on Oct. 1. The center is at 350 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

In addition to an eligibility review with a trained immigration law professional, participants receive the passport photos required for the application as well as photocopies of their documents. Legal Permanent Residents of the United States can register to receive assistance by calling (732) 932-9384 ext. 330.

Citizenship Rutgers is a university-wide project bringing free citizenship application assistance to qualified green card holders. Modeled on Citizenship NOW! – the citizenship and immigration law project now in its 14th year at the City University of New York – Citizenship Rutgers is a service provided to all of New Jersey’s 400,000 green card holders who are seeking citizenship.

With training and expertise provided by staff from CUNY’s Citizenship Now!, volunteer lawyers and law students from the Newark and Camden law schools work alongside undergraduates, faculty, and staff from all three campuses. Citizenship Rutgers already held two successful events on the New Brunswick campus.
