Chancellor Nancy Cantor to Deliver Keynote Address on Diversity at Lumina Ideas Summit

On Tuesday, June 17, Rutgers University–Newark Chancellor Nancy Cantor will discuss the importance of increasing access to higher education in our increasingly diverse nation as the keynote speaker at the Lumina Ideas Summit: “New pathways to higher education diversity,” in Washington, D.C.

The event, sponsored by the Lumina Foundation and The Century Foundation, will also serve to launch a new book, The Future of Affirmative Action. Cantor and Peter Englot, RU–N senior vice chancellor of public affairs and chief of staff, coauthored one of the book’s chapters, “Defining the Stakes: Why We Cannot Leave the Nation’s Diverse Talent Pool Behind and Thrive.”

Cantor is a nationally renowned thought leader on diversity in higher education. She has written frequently on this topic and been quoted widely in national media. She joins a lineup of professors, researchers, and attorneys on Tuesday, who will discuss strategies to increase racial and socioeconomic diversity against the backdrop of recent court challenges and policies that diminish affirmative action in higher education.

The summit will be webcast live at 9 a.m. on June 17, on the Lumina Foundation’s website.
