Rutgers University–Newark will celebrate the jazz heritage of the City of Newark with a Super Celebration of Jazz Saxophones, a campus and community event that is part of Newark Media Day and a lead-up to Super Bowl LXVIII. With live musical performances by internationally renowned jazz musicians, exclusive tours of Rutgers’ Institute of Jazz Studies for Rutgers alumni and WBGO members, and a discussion of jazz and its cultural significance to Newark, this will be a night to remember!

The evening’s headliner is The Kenny Garrett Quintet, led by saxophonist Kenny Garrett -- Grammy award winner and 2014 Grammy nominee for Best Jazz Instrumental Album! Other performers include the Leo Johnson Quartet, led by Leo Johnson NCAS’99, GSN’05, and Jazz House Kids. This event is free, but advance registration is requested. Space is limited, so don’t delay!
