What Does It Mean to Act Locally?

Understanding the role of NJ Environmental Commissions and Ordinances with a Focus on Plastics Education and Legislation.

Currently, there is no statewide legislation of single-use plastic. The environmental impact of single-use plastic has been well documented and several towns have already passed ordinances to curb the use and distribution of plastic bags.

Nandini Checko, from the Association of NJ Environmental Commission, will be the presenter.

This is the first seminar in the Fall 2018 Newark Environmental Sustainability Institute's (NESI) monthly seminar series geared toward faculty and students interested in current environmental issues of the state of New Jersey and beyond.

NESI pursues a multi-dimensional, interdisciplinary approach to urban environmental sustainability.
