Latinx Heritage Month
With Rutgers University-Newark being a federally-designated Hispanic Serving Institution, and the most diverse university in the United States for more than 20 years in a row, we proudly celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. Histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens, whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America, are celebrated every year from September 15 to October 15.
The date-to-date observation, as opposed to calendar month, is significant. September 15 marks the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively. In addition, Día de la Raza (more widely known as Columbus Day) is on October 14 this year. We invite you to learn more and celebrate with us at Rutgers-Newark and in the great city of Newark.
RU-N values the diversity of all its members and strives for complete access and inclusion. For any potential concerns related to access or to request an accommodation, please contact us at 973-353-2796 or firstname.lastname@example.org in advance of the program
