Have You Met Rutgers-Newark?
Anthony Middleton DiIonno
Mountain Lakes, N,.J., resident Anthony Middleton DiIonno receives his J.D. from the Rutgers School of Law-Newark in May 2015.
Aspirations: To grow an already established real estate and estate planning firm and incorporate intellectual property law into the practice.
Activities & interests: As a former professional musician, I entered law school with a lot of interest in intellectual property. I have been fortunate to explore this interest through classes and in the Rutgers Law clinic, under the supervision of experienced faculty. Outside of school, when I find time, I play bass guitar and enjoy golfing.
Favorite class or professor at RU-N: I really enjoyed “Intellectual Property” with Professor (John) Kettle and “NonProfit Organizations” with Dean (Andrew) Rothman in the Dominican Republic.
Biggest challenge at RU-N: The biggest challenge for me has been trying to balance law school and my job. I feel very fortunate to attend Rutgers, because it has allowed me the flexibility and supportive environment to pursue law school while supporting myself at work. Starting law school with other part-time evening students created a network of support from my fellow classmates.
Reflections on RU-N experience: I entered Rutgers law school anticipating rigorous academics and am graduating having gained a truly exceptional education. I found a unique and extraordinary sense of community that shaped my learning experience. Rutgers has allowed for me to grow as an individual, retaining what is unique to my experience while still building a strong sense of bonded student-faculty community. The school promotes a truly diverse culture while at the same time fostering a cohesive sense of school unity.
“Tweetable” advice to incoming freshmen: Take advantage of everything you can in and outside the classroom - there’s so much offered and every opportunity opens a new door.
Expressions of gratitude: I have to thank my classmates, my professors, and the school administrators without whom I could not have had this incredibly positive law school experience. I am so grateful to the Rutgers Law school community- there is a clear commitment to providing students like myself with the highest quality educational experience in a supportive, encouraging, and inspirational learning environment.
