Newark's reputation as a center for the arts and business is rivaled
only by the fact that it is also one of America's largest college towns. Over 30,000
undergraduate and graduate students attend classes in the
downtown area and in University Heights- home to Rutgers-Newark.
Rutgers-Newark is one of five centers of higher education located in
New Jersey's largest city. At R-N, over 10,500 students work on
undergraduate degrees and graduate degrees in the arts and
sciences, business, nursing, criminal justice and law - and take advantage of
everything the city and region have to offer in the way of arts, entertainment,
recreation, and great cuisine.
But don't just take our word for it. The city's ongoing resurgence is a hot topic in the national media.
The New York Times, Washington Post,
Travel & Leisure and PBS have been featuring the city and its treasures -- sample the buzz by
browsing through this guide, or just hop in your car, take a bus or train and come see for yourself.
