Masters Degree Program
The Masters program in criminal justice requires students to complete coursework and a field work requirement to obtain the degree. The purpose of the fieldwork internship is to provide pre-professional experience for students to bridge the academic and work environments. All requirements for the Master of Arts degree should be completed within three years of the first matriculation in the criminal justice program.
Doctoral Degree Program
Doctoral students typically spend four years completing required courses and electives, taking qualifying examinations, and pursuing an original investigation of a research problem. A dissertation is presented at the culmination of Ph.D. study.
Joint Degrees
A joint juris doctorate/masters program is offered by the School of Criminal Justice and Rutgers School of Law-Newark. This program affords students the opportunity to gain both legal and criminological training.
