Scholarships, Fellowships and Financial Aid
Numerous fellowship and scholarship opportunities are available to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in criminal justice.
Undergraduate Scholarships
Qualified undergraduate students who are interested in exploring a career with the New Jersey State Police can apply for the New Jersey State Police Scholars Program. The program provides scholarships, work experience and internships, and is the first police education program that unites a state police organization with a public research university. Scholarships are available to students from various majors including, but not limited to, criminal justice. The program offers the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in forensic sciences, business, communications and other areas. Numerous other scholarships also are available to qualifying undergraduate students.
Additional information can be obtained through the Rutgers-Newark Office of Admissions.
Graduate Fellowships
Several fellowship opportunities are available to students pursuing their master’s degrees as well as Ph.D. candidates. They include an annual Dean’s Dissertation Award as well as several other privately funded fellowships.
Visiting Fellows Program
The Visiting Fellows program allows criminal justice scholars from around the world to access the Don M. Gottfredson Library of Criminal Justice. The fellowship lasts for one academic year while researchers are on leave from their own academic institutions or organizations. In return, fellows produce a publishable report on their work at the library.
International Research Program
Rutgers University offers a Study Abroad program that allows students to gain a global perspective by experiencing different cultures. For more information, visit http://studyabroad.rutgers.edu.
