Dr. Christian’s broad research interests are corrections, race and gender, and urban studies. Her work examines incarceration’s impact on families and neighborhoods. She has conducted research about family visiting at prisons, the social and economic implications of family members’ connections to prisoners, and incarceration’s impact on two neighborhoods in New York.
