Dr. Martinez’s research interests focus broadly on former prisoner reentry, offender rehabilitation, and Hispanics/Latinos in the criminal justice system. His current research examines social support exchanges and reciprocity among adult ex-prisoners and their families; and the process and utility of assuming transformative social roles for individuals who have committed crimes. Dr. Martinez’s publications have focused on adult incarcerated Hispanics; political implications of Latino former prisoner reentry; reconceptualizing diversity issues, particularly racial and ethnic disproportionality in imprisonment and beyond; theoretical and conceptual considerations on former prisoner reentry; and post-release familial support.
