Senior law school faculty who make significant contributions to the field of law through research and public service are singled out for special recognition; Bernard Bell is such a faculty member.
Bell’s scholarship and service are impressive. He is a widely published expert in the theory of statutory interpretation, privacy law, torts, administrative law, and mass media law. His articles have appeared in the Stanford Law Review, the Texas Law Review, the North Carolina Law Review, the Ohio State Law Review, the Pittsburgh Law Review, the Federal Communications Law Journal and the Journal of Law and Politics, to name a few.
Members of the media frequently turn to Bell for expert insights on high-profile cases.
Bell serves as the Dean’s representative on the New Jersey Law Revision Commission, and was recently named co-chair of the Constitutional Law and Separation of Powers Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section on Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice.
Bell is completing a three-year term as a member of the Federal Courts Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the American Association of Law School’s Section on Legislation, and the chair-elect of the American Association of Law School’s Section on Defamation and Privacy.
