The Judge Leonard I. Garth Lecture Series has been established by his law clerks to honor Judge Garth, U.S. Circuit Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He then served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of New Jersey; Assistant to the Solicitor General, U.S. Department of Justice; Deputy Assistant Attorney General, U.S. Department of Justice; and U.S. Attorney, District of New Jersey. He was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1990. President George W. Bush nominated him as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, and he took his seat in January 2006.
Judge Garth is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School. He was in private practice in Paterson before his 1969 nomination by President Richard M.
