SPAA Faculty Members Assume Editorship of Noted Public Administration Journal

Beginning in January 2017, School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) University Professor Marc Holzer and SPAA Associate Professor Stephanie Newbold assumed editorship of the American Review of Public Administration (ARPA). ARPA was founded in 1967 and is published by SAGE.

Published bimonthly, ARPA has established a global reputation as a leading outlet for scholarship that advances the theory and practice of public administration. The journal currently has an impact factor ranking of 1.26.

ARPA receives hundreds of submissions a year from academics and practitioners.

As co-editors, Holzer and Newbold are responsible for overseeing the editorial review process associated with each submitted manuscript, as well as increasing the visibility and impact of the journal in the United States and aboad.

In a joint statement, Holzer and Newbold expressed their excitement for ARPA’s future, stating, “Our editorial vision for ARPA is to advance excellence in public administration theory and practice. We view this editorial opportunity as a way to ensure that more traditional forms of public administration research and scholarly contributions continue to have a formative place in one of the field’s preeminent publication outlets.”
