Some of the Hottest Jazz Around Is in Your Own Backyard, at Rutgers University, Newark

There’s no need for metropolitan-area residents to travel to New Orleans for great jazz; instead they should simply head to the Institute of Jazz Studies (IJS) at Rutgers University in Newark. The IJS has announced another great schedule of jazz concerts, talks and exhibits for the 2010-2011 academic year, all of which are open to the public and free.

IJS also is again teaming up with radio station WBGO-FM 88.3 to present its “Jazz from the Archives” radio series, which is broadcast on WBGO-FM 88.3, every Sunday, 11 p.m. – 12 a.m. The series is produced and hosted by the IJS.

Events are subject to change; for updated information and additional events, visit www.newark.rutgers.edu/arts.  The John Cotton Dana Library is wheelchair- accessible; it is at 195 University Ave., on the Rutgers campus in Newark.
