Rutgers Institute for Professional Education (IPE), which in less than five years has established itself as a prime provider of continuing legal education (CLE) in New Jersey, will offer one of its most popular programs to launch the University’s partnership with Atlantic City that is meant to expand higher education opportunities in the city.

“ETHICS-fest: Analyzing Common Ethical Dilemmas,” a highly-interactive, fast-paced program that uses a series of vignettes and video clips modeled on practice situations faced by seasoned and new attorneys alike, will be taught on December 12, 2014 at the Worthington campus of Atlantic Cape Community College. In announcing the partnership, Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian said: “Providing a wide selection of higher education options will help transform our city and open new avenues for economic development.”

Rutgers Institute for Professional Education, a joint program of Rutgers School of Law–Newark and Rutgers School of Law–Camden, is headed by Andrew Rossner, Associate Dean for Professional and Skills Education at the Newark law school. Programs are held at both law schools, as well as at other locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

“The Institute is excited about partnering with the Rutgers Division of Continuing Studies, the legal community in Atlantic City, and Atlantic Cape Community College to bring our high-quality, reasonably-priced programs to the city,” said Dean Rossner. “It is through such partnerships that we seek to make the teaching resources of the two Rutgers Schools of Law available to practicing attorneys throughout the state.”

The Institute runs more than 100 programs each year, including symposia, seminars, practical workshops, and in-house programs for law firms, corporate law departments, and governmental agencies. In addition, when partnering with other Rutgers’ units and external organizations, it brings discussion of important legal and social policy topics to the general public.

Members of the New Jersey and Pennsylvania legal communities give high marks to engaging, informative programs featuring federal and state judges, prosecutors, public defenders, leading attorneys in diverse practice areas, and prominent academics, voting IPE the third-best New Jersey CLE provider in 2013.
