Message from Chancellor Cantor on Loss of Student

Dear campus community members,

The Rutgers University - Newark community is profoundly saddened by the sudden loss of Mark Pych, who completed his course requirements for a bachelor's degree from Rutgers Business School in December and was scheduled to graduate this month. A resident of Jersey City and graduate of Liberty High School, Mark studied finance and supply chain management at Rutgers from 2009 to 2013. He was well known on campus, having touched the lives of many through academic and social extracurricular activities, as well as having served as a residence assistant for three years. Information about memorializing Mark will be forthcoming.

At times such as this, it is important for us to support each other, as well as avail ourselves, as needed, of supportive structures that can help us grapple with our loss. As a reminder, Rutgers University makes available counseling services for students, faculty, and staff. Students may contact the Rutgers University - Newark Counseling Center at 973.353.5805. Employees may contact Rutgers Human Resources/Faculty Staff & Assistance Program at 848.932.3956. Our hearts go out to Mark's loved ones and to all those whose lives he touched.

With sadness,

Nancy Cantor
Chancellor, Rutgers University - Newark
