Whether you commute by bus, rail, or subway, Newark is a mass transit town, home to major train stations, a city subway system and New Jersey Transit bus lines. There are many ways to leave your car behind, and safely and conveniently commute to Rutgers-Newark from within New Jersey, or from New York City. Here are some useful transit web sites.

If you arrive at Newark Penn station and take the light rail, Rutgers-Newark is located steps from the Washington Street light rail stop. It is a short walk from the Newark Broad Street train station, or alternately you can ride on the campus shuttle bus which runs approximately every 15 minutes during the week.
