George Saunders is the author of eight books, including the story collection The Tenth of December. His first story Collection, in CivilWarLand in Bad Declline, was a finalist for a PEN/Hemingway Award. His writing frequently appears in The New Yorker. Saunders was named one of the Twenty Best American Fiction Writers under Forty by The New Yorker in 1999, and received a MacArthur Fellowship in 2006
Matthea Harvey is the author of Modern Life, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. She has also written two previous books of poetry, Sad Little Breathing Machine and Pity the Bathtub Its Forced Embrace of the Human form, as well as a forthcoming children's book, The Little General and The Giant Snowflake, illustrated by Elizabeth Zechel.
