Assumptions and stereotypes often influence people's evaluations of others without evaluators' awareness. In her research presentation, Dr. Dasgupta will describe the subtle ways in which implicit gender and racial stereotypes influence hiring and promotion decisions in professional life both inside and outside academia. She will also highlight evidence-based remedies that prevent implicit bias from affecting personnel actions.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Dasgupta's research is on unconscious or implicit bias with emphasis on the plasticity of implicit bias -- she studies the ways in which changes in social contexts correspondingly change implicit attitudes, beliefs, and behavior.
