Hip Hop for Urban Peace Festival

To celebrate the Día de la Raza (Day of Race), The International Institute for Peace (IIP) at Rutgers University-Newark, NJ is promoting the event Hip Hop for Urban Peace; a hip-hop art festival comprising music, breakdancing and murals. IIP conflict resolution work, in partnership with UNESCO, aims at preventing youth violence and reducing urban violence, by creating spaces of peace and empowering young peace building leaders. The Hip Hop for Urban Peace is a kick off day that will start a conversation with youth communities in Newark and New Jersey and to implement strategies for youth violence prevention.
