Don Friedman and Strings play Music of Lewis Porter
This is the only event in which Dr. Porter does not perform, but is present as composer. We present the World Premiere of Lewis Porter's Movements for Jazz Trio and String Quartet, featuring the distinguished guest pianist Don Friedman, with bass, drums, and four classical string musicians. The piece features jazz improvisation along with modern classical themes by Dr. Porter. Friedman is world-renowned for his many years of work with such artists as Booker Little, Scott LaFaro, Charles Lloyd, Herbie Mann, and Clark Terry.
