Artist Talk: Jeanette May
Brooklyn photographer Jeanette May is interested in examining the photographic image and its ability to convey a broad range of meanings to the viewer. By reversing conventions, incorporating text, and taking a critical approach to "the gaze" of an audience, May highlights the different ways in which men and women are visually represented. May's work has been featured in The New York Photo Review, CBS NY Local, Time Out New York, ARTslant, Washington Post, Ms. Magazine, and more. Currently, May teaches at the International Center of Photography in Manhattan.
