Ancient Salutations: A Symposium on Classical Indian Dance with Ramya Ramnarayan
Workshop held at the Billy Johnson Auditorium at the Newark Museum from 12:00pm-1:00pm
The fall symposium features New Jersey Bharatnatyam dancer and teacher, Ramya Ramnarayan. Bharathanatyam is a classical dance style from Southern India having an unbroken tradition for over 2,000 years.
New Jersey performer, teacher and choreographer, Ramya Ramnarayan explains the historic and cultural background of India through the medium of dance in her workshop entitled “Traditional Dance of India” from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Billy Johnson Auditorium at the Newark Museum.
At 7:00 p.m. Ramya and her dance troupe, the Nrithyanjali Institute of Dance, will present a concert featuring live musicians at the Bradley Hall Theater on the Rutgers-Newark Campus.
A reception in the theater lobby will follow the concert. Free and open to the public.
