Child Care Center

Register your child now!
Our new Child Care Center has opened at 75 Halsey Street (located in the back of the Center for Law and Justice parking lot).
The Center will provide an education program for children 2 ½ to 5 years old while parents are attending class or working on campus. The Center is open to serve both day and evening students.
The Center will be open year-round and will operate as a full day, full school year based on the Rutgers Newark calendar. The hours will run from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Our facility is fully licensed by the State of New Jersey and we are pursuing national accreditation under the leadership of Catholic Charities (who was the top finalist in competitive bids), which operates three other child care centers locally and will serve as our vendor in launching the new center. The teaching staff will be degreed, meet state certification requirements and work closely with faculty from our College of Nursing and department of Psychology.
In order to place your child on the waiting list for the Center, please download and complete the Registration Form and update any of your previous information and return it to the address on the form with a registration fee of $25, payable to "Catholic Charities." This fee assures your place on the waiting list, however, in instances where parents were unable to obtain a slot, the registration fee will be returned. (NOTE: Although the Center is run by "Catholic Charities," a brand name in child care in New Jersey, the Rutgers Newark child care program will not include any religious content).
Openings at the Rutgers Newark child care center are filled on a first come, first served basis. Even if you originally signed up previously, you must do so again. We will do our best to serve the child care needs of faculty, staff, and students, so early registration is important.
Also, please note that at this time, priority is given to families in need of full time childcare as space is limited. We hope to expand the footprint of the center after its first full year of operation so we can accommodate more children, and perhaps even infants, however, that expansion is not certain at this time.
Sincerely,
Marcia Wilson Brown
Vice Chancellor for Student and Community Affairs
