The building is open to the public:
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 9 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm.
Law, criminal justice and CGCG students may enter the building at any time the library is open. Faculty, staff and certain authorized students may access the building before or after regular hours by card swipe access at the front entrance doors. A building receptionist and security personnel will be present in the building at all times when the building is open to the public.

Students, faculty and staff must show their Rutgers ID card to the security staff at the entrance to the building. Ordinarily, this means that students, faculty and staff should wear their Rutgers ID so it is visible on entrance. Students, faculty and staff will be expected to have their Rutgers ID visible at all times while they are in the building.
Visitors must show a valid ID (a photo driver's license or other photo id is preferred) and sign in with the security staff at the entrance to the building. Visitors will be issued a visitor pass to wear at all times while in the building. Lanyards for IDs will be made available to students, faculty and staff.
Visitors going to the library will receive a library pass at the security desk, and should go directly to the library circulation desk to register.
Visitors going to the clinical offices will receive a clinical pass at the security desk and should go directly to the clinical offices. If a visitor does not have an appointment, the receptionist will check with the appropriate faculty or staff member. A visitor who does not have appropriate identification will be allowed to enter the building only if met at the security desk by a faculty member, staff member or student and escorted while in the building.

For larger events, a separate lobby table will be set up for security. The general entry procedures for the building will be modified as needed to allow event participants access to the building. Those responsible for a special event are expected to assist by informing security of a pending special event, by providing a list of those people likely to attend, and by assisting with security screening.

Students, faculty and staff must have their Rutgers ID clearly visible to enter the library.
Visitors must have their library pass clearly visible and sign in at the circulation desk. Everyone except Rutgers students, faculty and staff must leave the library at 9:00 p.m. (6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays) and may not enter the library before it opens in the morning. Signs will be prominently posted setting out the visitors' hours. Security personnel are instructed to ask all non students and faculty to leave after 9:00 p.m. (M-F)

Whenever possible, public access to the clinical offices should be by appointment. Those with appointments must check in at the security desk and show valid photo ID. For those individuals who do not have an appointment, the security staff will contact the appropriate clinical personnel, who will escort the visitor to the clinical offices and to the exit of the building.

The loading dock entrance will only be operated from the reception desk by remote control. An intercom and camera will allow individuals needing loading dock entrance to call the front desk for assistance. After entry or exit at the loading dock, the receptionist will close the roll-up door.
